SOUNDWALK
Following a lecture, a soundwalk took place in the nearby nature reserve of the Wehrmühle Biesenthal. Here 4 musicians of a string quartet were positioned in the landscape, playing fragments of Scriabin's compositions.
Deep Listening - with some simple exercises inspired by Pauline Oliviero's "Deep Listening" was introduced to contemplative listening. By walking slowly and silently, the mind calmed down. Again and again, in the sounds of nature at different points in the landscape, the sounds of the string instruments and the musicians, like apparitions from another time, appeared. Then, at the end of the soundwalk, the strings were heard and seen playing together for the first time. The fragments united to form complete compositions.
CONCERT
After the concert the audience could sit down in a circle of eight loudspeakers. Here the 4th Sonata and the piece Vers La Flamme by Alexander Scriabin were played by Kilian Scholla on a grand piano and in an arrangement for string quartet. Additionally, an immersive spatial sound experience could be created through electroacoustic compositions and interventions by Ben Meerwein.
